Meet the Team
Malan
When asked how long he’s been cycling, Malan needed to pull out a calculator and after some quick math, he landed on 33 years. With 29 of those years spent in the bike maintenance industry, Malan’s journey began with his first bicycle, a classic Peugeot Report. Cycling has always been a big part of his daily life, and his passion for uplifting the community grew from there. Recognizing the need for detail-oriented bicycle care for sports bikes in the Helderberg community, Malan helped shape Velo Life into the trusted service provider it is today.
Outside of the workshop, Malan enjoys kayaking, fishing, and backyard farming—especially raising ducks and chickens. His favorite cycling trails and routes are in Knysna and Grabouw, where he finds both challenge and inspiration.
What Malan loves most about working at Velo Life is the satisfaction of putting things back together, much like completing a puzzle. If you were to describe Malan in two words, they would be selfless and dedicated.

Denzil
Denzil’s expertise in bike maintenance started at a second-hand sports shop, where he quickly became a leader in the bike maintenance department. Recognizing his talent, Velo Life eagerly brought him on board to join our workshop team.
His cycling journey began 12 years ago with a Cannondale R600, with the last 6 years spent honing his skills at Velo Life. In his spare time, when he’s not cycling, Denzil is deeply involved in the Winelands cycling development initiative and helps fix bicycles in the Sir Lowry's Pass Village community.
His favorite film is Premium Rush, reflecting his love for speed and adventure. Denzil's favorite cycling routes include the breathtaking Franschoek Pass and Clarence Drive. What he enjoys most about working at Velo Life is collaborating with Malan and building strong relationships with clients, thanks to his sociable and cheerful nature.
